Process & Booking
I have been offering placenta encapsulation since 2012 and have encapsulated for approximately 350 + area families since getting started. Many doulas, midwives, other birth professionals and previous clients frequently refer to me. I truly am honored to have such a supportive "network" that believes in the work I provide.
To begin the booking process and secure a spot in my calendar, you can fill out the booking form or you may call or email me. I'll email you to let you know that I've added you to my calendar. Deposit AUD50 has to be paid to be able to secure your spot.
Within 24 hours after your birth, I will arrange a time to pick up your placenta. Please contact me between 7am - 9pm. I work hard to be "on call" for you and will make every effort to pick up and prepare your placenta within the ideal time frame for encapsulation. U can also send me a SMS as soon u know, your birthing starts and let me know. This will allow me to schedule time for collection of your placenta.
No need to come to me. While you bond with your new baby, I will conveniently pick up and prepare your placenta for you while you enjoy your babymoon. I will also drop your pills off or send post express if wished to you once everything is completed. Payment for all services is due at the time of pick up of your placenta.
I offer Traditional Chinese method (TCM). The placenta is steamed, usually along with lemon and ginger (I do not typically add any other herbs as they may not be well tolerated by a nursing baby. If you are allergic to ginger, please advise us ahead of time). The placenta is then sliced into very thin strips and completely dehydrated before it is carefully ground into a very fine powder which can then be encapsulated. The capsules will be stored in an amber jar that I provide. Each placenta is different in size and substance so the amount of capsules it makes can vary from 70 to 180. The Steamed method can be done at any time, as long as the placenta has been stored properly in the fridge or freezer.
Great care is taken in all of these processes but equally important is the energy and honor with which the placenta is treated. I feel strongly that a space of love, gratitude, and healing is owed to you and your placenta, which so gently and lovingly cared for your baby during your pregnancy.
I use all of my own equipment (unless you request that I use yours), so you don't need to provide me with anything. I follow PBi's recommendations for handling Blood Borne Pathogens in all of my set up, processing, and clean up. This ensures the safety of myself and my clients and an elimination of the risk of cross contamination. I also only accept one placenta at a time, there is never more than one in my workspace, so you can be sure that my full attention and care are going into YOUR services.
Placenta encapsulation fees:
My placenta encapsulation service includes approximately 70 - 180 placenta capsules that will help nourish you during your first few postpartum weeks.

Along with your placenta capsules you will also receive your baby's umbilical cord carefully dried to cherish as an umbilical cord keepsake in a delicate organza bag, and the dosage guidelines.

Cord keepsake - a wonderful gift to the new mother, an everlasting symbol of the physical connection a mother had with her child. To honour and treasure the umbilical cord it can be dehydrated into a charm shape and kept for a lifetime.
Dreamcatcher - $30 - a dream catcher is a beautiful way to display the umbilical cord, the thread of life that connected you and your baby during pregnancy. Each dreamcatcher is unique to the mother and baby who created it. Colors of beads and feathers can be chosen.
Tree of life prints - $20 - "tree of life print", is a beautiful and artistic way to honor this amazing organ that tied you and your little one together for so long. This treasure, is made using the blood of the placenta. I simply lay the placenta on the watercolor paper, and let it set for a moment. Once it is removed, you are left with a "stamp" of the placenta which is said to resemble the tree of life.
